Our smoky recteq version of Classic Philly Cheesesteak Hoagies will give be a hit for tailgating, picnicking, or a weekday lunch break.

  • 1 pound(s) Ribeye, shaved
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Ben's Heffer Dust
  • 1/2 cup(s) Green Bell Pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup(s) Shitake Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup(s) Yellow Onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Salted Butter
  • 1/2 Hoagie Bun
  • 5 slice(s) Provolone Cheese

Tools Needed

  • Step 1: Preheat recteq to 450°F with a cast iron skillet or flat top griddle inside.
  • Step 2: Add 1 tablespoon Ben’s Heffer Dust to shaved ribeye, place on griddle or cast iron, and cook for 7-8 minutes until cooked 3/4 of the way, draining excess grease if needed. Set meat aside.
  • Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of Ben’s Heffer Dust to the julienned peppers, mushrooms, and onions, then add to griddle or cast iron, cooking 3-4 minutes until tender.
  • Step 4: Add meat to veggies and cook additional 2-3 minutes. Remove meat and veggies and turn grill down to 350°F.
  • Step 5: Cut hoagie bun in half, butter both sides, and toast in recteq for 2-3 minutes. Add philly mixture to both sides, top with cheese, and allow to melt.
  • Step 6: Remove from recteq and serve open faced.
