Coffee Bourbon Brined Turkey

Your favorite flavors from strong, rich Black Rifle Coffee and bourbon come together to give this turkey the perfect, smoky flavor.

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a large bowl mix together hot coffee and recteq Holiday Celebrations Poultry Brine. Stir until salt is dissolved. Allow to cool.
  • Step 2: Add cooled mixture to a large brining container and add in remaining ingredients. Add prepped turkey to container making sure bird is fully submerged, adding water if needed. Allow to brine 12-24 hours.
  • Step 3: Remove from container and place on sheet pan with wire rack inserted. Pat turkey dry and place uncovered in refrigerator at least 6-12 hours to dry skin out. 
  • Step 4: Burning the Oak Blend Pellets, preheat recteq to 325°F.
  • Step 5: Remove turkey from refrigerator.
  • Step 6: Add coffee to spice grinder and pulse 15 seconds. In a small bowl mix coffee with recteq Holiday Poultry Rub.
  • Step 7: Coat turkey in sesame oil and season evenly with coffee and rub mixture. Place turkey on wire rack and place in recteq. Cook 2-3 hours or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F in the breast and 180°F in the thighs.
  • Step 8: Remove and let rest 20-30 minutes before slicing.
