A classic recipe with a wood pellet grilled twist, bake up this Smoked Apple Pie for a dessert to celebrate.

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat recteq to 400°F and spray pie pan with non-stick spray.
  • Step 2: Peel and core apple, cut apple in half, then cut each half into even slices. Place the apples into a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 3: Add sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, Chef's Johns's Soul Powder Rub, cornstarch and vanilla to mixing bowl and mix well with apples. Let apples sit in bowl for 5 minutes before putting them in the pie pan.
  • Step 4: While apples are resting, add one pie crust to pie pan making sure that the crust overlays the pie pan and fill with the apple mixture topped with the other crust.
  • Step 5: Pinch the edges of the two pie crusts to seal them off and make a few slices through the top crust with a knife.
  • Step 6: Place pie in recteq and bake 45 minutes until the crust is golden, brown, and delicious. Remove from recteq and allow to cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.

  • 1 teaspoon(s) Chef John's Soul Powder Rub
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon(s) Corn Starch
  • 2 teaspoon(s) Vanilla
  • 2 each Premade Pie Crusts

Tools Needed

  • 9 inch Pie Pan
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Peeler
