Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

Who needs an oven when you can cook just about anything on your recteq? Here we have a fan favorite - Molten Chocolate Lava cake, cooked right in your backyard. Rich and decadent, this pellet grilled dessert makes a beautiful presentation.


  • 8 ounces Butter
  • 4 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
  • 12 ounces Semi-sweet Chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup Flour, all purpose
  • 2 1/2 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 6 Eggs, whole
  • 6 Egg Yolks
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract 

Additional Items:

  • 4 ounce Baking Ramekins
  • Stainless bowl


  1. Preheat recteq to 400℉.
  2. Using the butter wrappers, rub the inside of the ramekins, then sprinkle 1/2 tsp sugar into each ramekin. Roll the sugar around to evenly coat the sides of the ramekins
  3. Add the chopped chocolate to a stainless bowl, add to the recteq for 3-4 minutes until melted.
  4. To the melted chocolate, whisk in the remaining ingredients, mix until smooth. 
  5. Fill each ramekin 2/3rds full, bake on the recteq for 15-20 minutes until the cake has risen and the top is firm. 

Serving Suggestions:

Irresistible as is, but top off each Molten Chocolate Lava Cake with a dusting of powdered sugar, whipped cream, and some berries for a little extra treat. Vanilla ice cream couldn't hurt either!
