I had a potential problem with the temp probe and, as usual, RecTec was quick to send a replacement free of charge to enable me to continue to use my unit.
Great little grill
It was nice to purchase a product from the Internet that worked just like it was advertised. If your mess
your food up it will be your fault and not the grill. I have never wanted to cook anothing period. Now i look forward to using my mini every chance I get. I called the customer service once and they were awesome.
i am really happy with the mini
This is my first pellet grill and i am really enjoying it. Actually i wish i would have purchased the 680 just for the extra space.
I was currently using a TEC grill and for what i use the grill for they are not even close. I pefer the rec tek hands down , no question.

Perfect temp control, installation not easy

The installation of the probe is simple. The running of the wires through the firewall, then around the fax box toward the grill front, then to the RTD connectors is not easy.
I'm not too coordinated but I finally fished out the wires -- I was afraid to damage them.
A picture would be handy. Maybe I should use all my camera gear and build a how-to page!

I was having trouble with my temp in my mini running about 35 degrees below set point on grill. called Rec Tec and they sent out new probe right away I got it the next day!!!! Installed yesterday without problem and now will see how temp does. Great customer service!!!!!! Really great company to deal with.
Replace Temp Probe
Thanks for the instructions to replace the temperature sensor. However, I found a very simple way to replace it without tearing the whole unit apart. It may or may not be your approved method but I found that I would not break or forget how to replace all the wires after disconnected.. OK, here goes... start by getting access to the bottom by removing the four screws and removing the grate. find the wire bundle that has the two plastic tie wraps and cut them. now find the two wires coming from the sensor, they will be on the bottom right. Do not disconnect them from the terminal board yet. Next disconnect the sensor unit in the tank, do not lose the two lock washers and nuts. Pull the sensor out of the tank slowly cut the wires of the sensor at the base of the unit , save the deflector from the sensor.. Wrap one wire from the sensor around the connector of the new sensor unit slowly pull the wire from the circuit board. The connector will fit through the wall of the tank salon as you feed it gently. Pull the wire through the unit and you are done. Just replace the wires on the board. I really didn’t want to mess with all of the mess removing the hopper and all the other stuff. Call me if you would like me to clarify anything.. I have always tried to take less time and effort when making a repair or overhaul..
My original probe when shipped with grill was bent. It appeared to work but I would get an overheating error. Called rechecked and they sent me out a replacement under warranty. It was fairly easy to replace and has worked great ever since without anymore overheating errors.

The customer service at Rec Tec never lets you down! I've owned a 300 mini for about two years, and I started experiencing problems with the temp bouncing around, and then error coding out. With out hesitation Rec Tec sent out a new probe and control board free of charge. It was a simple swap out, and my smoker is running like a champ again. I don't know why anyone would chose a different brand.
